Setting your Movement

The Smokey Bear 80th Anniversary Edition watches are a durable, wear-everywhere watch. And once your movement is fully wound, it has a 41-hour power reserve to ensure your watch is ready to head out the door when you are. But first, there are some easy steps to get your Smokey Bear watch jump-started until it is fully wound from the motion of your wrist.

To Start:

  • Unscrew the crown counter clockwise until it’s in the “open” position.
  • Wind 20-30 times. (Don't worry, an automatic cannot be overwound)
  • Give the watch a few gentle shakes to engage the rotor. The second hand should now be ticking.

To Set:

  • Pull crown out to the 2nd "setting" position. You should feel the crown click into place.
  • Rotate the hands to set the desired time.
  • Press your crown back in and rotate clockwise. Screw the crown down completely to ensure water resistance.
  • Your watch will continue to wind with the motion of your wrist while you're wearing it.

To Keep on Time:

  • The Smokey Bear watches have a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound. We suggest wearing your watch daily to keep the rotor moving, and the movement fully wound.
  • If the watch has been sitting idle for a few days, repeat these steps starting with a few gentle winds.
